I have had the privelege in my long career of industrial automation experiences, to have traveled the world assisting with automation upgrades. I have installed numerous PLC's, drives, and other automation equipment in almost every industry that requires them. My goal is to aquire my journeymans certification as well as become proficient in household wiring projects. Update: I have achieved my goal in acquiring my journeymans certification with BP Whiting Refinery. During my schooling I have been introduced to new instrumentation and technologies that work well with refinery process control. I have become proficient in Delta V and AMS, communicating with instrumentation using either Foundation Fieldbus or HART. I have also been educated in the Honeywell TDC3000. I have been involved in incorporating new technology with existing systems, giving me the opportunity to assist in cutovers and allowing me to understand the process better.UPDATE 2017: Recently, I had been given the opportunity to supervise my peers for 3 months during an automation upgrade project. This was very intimidating for me at first, considering I am one of "low seniority" in the union pool. This gave me the valuable experience of learning management methods and creating the "mutual respect" environment. My team and I successfully completed the project on time and on budget. There were obstacles along the way, in which I had to adapt and overcome without upper management support. Communication was critical in some of these instances. The rapport I had with my crew was outstanding. I always kept an open mind and took their concerns into consideration. I believe this experience helped me understand management and their need to continuously adapt to the situations at hand, all while keeping their composure and keeping the workforce safe and productive.
