About Anthony Thatcher, C.M.,A.C.E.

Joined the Illinois Army National Guard in August of 2003 as a chinook mechanic. I was assigned to Bravo Company 935th Aviation Support Battalion. I went through basic training in June 2004-August 2004 in Ft. Jackson, SC and went to Ft. Eustis, VA for my chinook mechanic training. My unit was deployed to Kuwait from October 2007- July 2008. Upon my returning to the United States I left the military to pursue a career as a pharmacist so I enrolled in pre-pharmacy classes at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL. I soon found that pharmacy was not my calling so I started taking general education classes so I could transfer schools at a later time when I figured out what I wanted to do. I finally figured out that I wanted to do something aviation related because that was why I joined the National Guard in the first place. I applied to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where I was accepted and then applied for the Aviation school. I was accepted into the Aviation program and have since graduated with a Bachelor's in Aviation Management with a minor in Airport Planning and Airport Operations. I also received my private pilot's license while in attendance at SIUC.
