I founded Waugh Thistleton Architects with Andrew Waugh in 1997 and we have developed the practice along a core ambition to achieve sustainability in construction.Having built our first cross-laminated structure in 2004, one of the first in the UK, we completed the world's first high rise timber building in London in 2009 and since then have been at the forefront of engineered timber through research and practice, developing new building typologies and methods.As a practice we proselytise about the use of timber in construction across the globe as a significant contributor to carbon sequestration and a counter to climate change; I have recently lectured at the Vertical Cities conference in Dubai and at the Forum International Bois Construction in Nancy, France.Other affiliations: - CABE/Design Council Built Environment Expert (BEE) - Member of 'The Green Group', a loose affiliation of professionals interested in advancing green technologies through collaboration and lobbying. - Chair of the South Shoreditch Conservation Area Advisory CommitteeI am also a trustee and founder of the Rural Refugee Network, dedicated to resettling Syrian refugees into local communities.
