Photojournalist
CurrentI am an overnight photojournalist at the local Fox affiliate in Denver. This means I arrive at work at 1:00 A.M. I grab my camera and police scanner, then hit the road. For the first half of my shift, I drive around looking for breaking news. That can mean fires, stabbings, burglaries– whatever happens overnight. Then, around 3:00 A.M. I get assigned a reporter. I then help the reporter find video for their story. We then go to our live shot location, where I light, mic and film the reporter throughout the morning show. Because I am alone for half of my shift– and sometimes all of my shift, depending on the day– I am an independent, self-motivated worker. I take pride in what I do and I strive to create a great product.
