Established in 2001 growing into a full-service insurance investigative company servicing over 34 major insurance companies in 22 states. From corporate paperwork to establishing policy and procedures I personally developed this company into 1.3 million dollars in sales in the first three years. This position includes oversite and responsibility for all daily operations in a highly successful investigative firm. In 2013 due to the escalation in terrorism and workplace violence Van Gorp Group was established providing security, executive protection, and consulting for many national companies.

As the Urban Agriculture Educator assigned to Gary my office was based out of the office of Sustainability and Environmental Affairs. As part of the SARE Grant process, this office and committee members played a vital role in the development of the grant. In this position, a 12-week training program covering urban agriculture was developed and initiated. Various committees and regular meetings/goals were set and accomplished. A tool share program was built making over five thousand dollars of tools available to the growing enthusiast of Gary. Numerous learning-based trips were coordinated and developed providing learning and community building between the growers. Consulting, education, and team-building were my primary function.

Owner operator of an urban agriculture business growing produce and developing a market for the sale and distribution of said items. With the advent of the “urban Agriculture movement” our farm has changed its focus to flower farming. Although we still raise produce our focus has become flowers, instruction, and u pick sales.

Director, Central Region Investigative Options is a wholly owned subsidiary of CNA Insurance. As a start-up company I was involved in various facets of the business, growth, marketing, sales, training and technical components of our venture. In September of 2000, I was promoted to Director of the central region (14 states) of the United States to manage sales, investigations, surveillance, growth, and expansion.

During my tenure as deputy chief, I implemented computerization of various functions within the office. By implementing these functions, I increased productivity by the 13 employees I supervised. I organized various conferences, lectured, and was involved in public relations efforts for the office. As a guest lecturer, I taught Internet Investigations for Police Officers, Hotel Interdiction and Insurance Fraud Investigations at North East Multi-Regional Training, and Northwestern University, Evanston.Prior to serving as deputy chief (1991 – 1993), I was assigned to the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group (DUMEG) as an asset forfeiture investigator. During my tenure in this position our office tripled seizure dollars and was involved in three Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces seizing millions of dollars of assets while assigned to the DEA/FBI task force.

I began my career with the police department as a police cadet and worked my way up to the position of an investigator. I served as a patrol officer, youth officer, school liaison officer and narcotics investigator assigned to the NEMEG unit with the Illinois State Police/Cook County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit. I also served as State Chairman Law Enforcement Exploring BSA.
