Research FellowNational University Of Singapore 2016 - Dec 2018I am analysing the marginal impact of conservation finance in Indian Tiger Reserves and globally.More generally, I carry out research that quantifies the links between international trade and the loss of biodiversity and forests. Director Of ConservationMaquipucuna Foundation Nov 2009 - 2012I managed a research project on cocoa yield and biodiversity. Our aim was to create a certification scheme for Biodiversity-Friendly chocolate in NW Ecuador. I researched trade-offs between agricultural production and biodiversity responses, in relation to the shade trees in cocoa. I used the results to recommend sustainable certification levels. I took the lead on organizing the first international conference on biodiversity-friendly chocolate certification. I managed a budget of about $50,000 and captured additional research funding.

Postdoctoral ResearcherUniversity Of Georgia 2007 - 2009I researched predictors of extinction in a world of isolated, fragmented habitats. I also quantified the proportion of mammal diversity stewarded by each political unit in the world, to see where the responsibilities lie. I then put together a database on conservation spending in each country (political unit) and looked for countries where spending didn't match up to biodiversity importance. -
