Direct responsibility for LKQ’s innovation and automation across all ‘green field’ and ‘brown field’ sites in Europe and the UK. LKQ supply vehicle parts in both B2B and B2C environments. The role involves travelling to each location, analysing layouts, data and process mapping each site. Liaising with each sites senior team to access requirements and identify beneficial opportunities for the parent company. Creating the business case where applicable, rejecting those solutions which are not viable. Responsible for individual projects between £5m – 12m. Business cases are created using lean methodologies, key principles being the elimination of waste and improvement of productivity. Each project is managed independently, meaning a working relationship with multiple suppliers has been essential to ensure the most applicable solution is accessible. This role is an extension of my previous role as automation manager for one LKQ site, where I was promoted to oversee all LKQ sites across Europe & the UK.

As part of the implementation team my role has evolved whilst working with ECP, the site is a new start up operation of approx 1 million square foot warehouse, that has transitioned 2 other sites into 1 distribution centre.I was initially involved within the later design stages of the required automation solutions for the new site this involved automated picking and replenishments and elements of the despatch functions, creating process flows for the whole site from design documentation this was through automation and conventional manual processes.Was integral to the UAT and SAT testing stages through to BAU, this involved using test systems and emulations to ensure a seamless transition for the business, Control of new releases/ bug fixes for the systemic aspect also new functionality in regards to Change requests from design and costing through to completion.Working closely with the suppliers of the WCS management system i managed the testing of new and current functionality along with regression testing for the site, i am also part of the team that initiates change to ensure all modifications are operationally viable as well as being in the best interests of the business in supporting serviceability to the customer.I also have completed a Six Sigma black belt qualification, and have previous experience In lean management.

I have been with M&S through the entire start up of the site, as part of my early role here I was responsible for producing process flows to enable creation of site operating procedures. As the site became operational my role leaned more towards guiding teams seamlessly through cultural and operational changes, to promote and encourage quality and safety standards at all times. I have been directly responsible for recruitment of team leaders and then leading and coaching those teams to deliver performance and cost targets. Since the beginning I've been heavily involved in the initial testing of a highly automated environment, making the most of my extensive knowledge in this area. Leading initial testing within the despatch side of the operation.For the last 6 months I have been part of the project team to support the site delivering peak volumes for 2013, this is an on going project I will be involved in. The site is a fully automated hanging garment and boxed DC and 2.2million sqft over 5 floors, despatching to domestic and international via eCommerce.

Initially part of the start up team as a new DC 650k sqft fully automated warehouse, working within the Inbound operation recieving domestic and direct imports, testing and process managing new procedures, recruitment, reverse flow management for 700+ stores to over 1000+ suppliers, day to day operations across 6 depts, in excess of 350 colleagues on shift, managing 7 team leaders, ensuring following criteria is met, H&S, budget control, KPI management, CI initiatives, inventory control, HR functions, customer expectation, weekly financial alignment, planned volumes versus forecast,

This was a start up operation at a state of the art semi automated warehouse, So initial set up of the inbound processes to manage in excess of £20m of inventory on a daily basis,testing equipment, WMS and WCS testing, SOP writing and role out, SSOW and risk assessment KPI control, budget management, annual review procedures, time and attendance, discipline and grievance, development and coaching,

Managing day to day operation in an automated warehouse rotating between numerous dept's from inbound receiving, sortation,storage, retrieval through to despatching to approx 700 stores, teams in excess of 65 colleagues (perm and temp), KPI control, budget management, annual review procedures, time and attendance, discipline and grievance, union engagement, development and coaching, continuous improvement, also performing as shift manager on weekends as support.
