I assist a diverse group of students with better comphrension of what math really is about. It is not about just doing the work and writing numbers now but also understanding what the math means and where it can be applied to real life.

As a physics grader for UT’s OnRamps program, I meticulously analyze the work of students involved with the program and give constructive feedback on their work. I identify any misconceptions or errors in their thought processes to better understand how to help the students.

I worked as a Learning Assistant or LA (now better know as STEM Communities) for the physics department. This program is focused on proactively engaging students to better understand physics concepts via group work/teamwork. Instead of traditional row by row seating for students, we utilize round tables which encourages students to collaborate and work on problems together. Us LAs also benefit a lot, it gives us more teaching experience and better improves our teaching methods. We quickly adapt our teaching styles to help diverse student groups within the classroom.

Teaching a lab for the electricity and magnetism PHYS course. Topics such as circuits, charges, Faraday’s Law, and other relevant E&M concepts were covered.Lab activities included having the students learn how to code in Python to solve physics related scenarios or to represent a model. For the most part, lab used hands-on equipment and a data recording tool (LoggerPro).

I started as a cashier and was efficient with packing orders and serving the required needs of both my customers and coworkers. I soon learned other positions such as food prep and worked on the line all within 2 weeks time. I enjoyed learning new roles and meeting many people in the time I worked here.
