As a Research Assistant in geotechnical engineering, I investigate numerical methods for analyzing complex soil-structure interactions. I'm currently developing innovative approaches to simulate non-conforming surfaces as interconnected nodes, allowing translation and rotation. Using a stiffness-based approach and Coulomb contact, similar to the discrete element method (DEM), I calculate forces and interactions between material points and thin non-conforming surfaces. This novel methodology aims to capture sliding contact, object separation, and track multi-material properties and forces. I conduct extensive simulations, including soil cutting, suction caisson installation, uplift of buried pipes, and soil extrusion, to assess the method's effectiveness. I'm also exploring optimization techniques to mitigate the impact of mesh size and particle density. Through this ongoing research, I aim to advance our understanding of soil-structure interaction problems, contributing to more accurate and efficient geotechnical engineering solutions.

As a Mathematics Instructor, I had the privilege of teaching aspiring engineering students in a hybrid classroom setting. At Consultola Cia. LTDA, I served as a Structural Design Specialist, specializing in steel structures, and was entrusted with the design of the industrial building GISIS 2. My responsibilities encompassed the entire design process, including structural modeling, structural analysis, and the design of the main structure, secondary structures, connections, foundations, silos, and hoppers. To ensure the building's stability and performance, I conducted vibration analysis to demonstrate its resistance to resonance caused by various mechanical equipment that would be operational throughout its lifespan. Additionally, I diligently prepared comprehensive calculation reports and took charge of supervising and ensuring the quality of the production of engineering drawings. My role at Consultola allowed me to showcase my expertise in structural design, while honing my project management skills and attention to detail.

While legally employed by Fractales, an engineering company in Ecuador, I dedicated my expertise to projects in collaboration with Staloframes, a Miami-based Steel Framing factory. As a Design Engineer, my primary responsibility was to design single-family and multi-family houses using the Steel Framing system. I meticulously created design and construction plans, ensuring strict adherence to all applicable codes and regulations. Notably, I played a crucial role in spearheading the certification process, enabling Staloframes to introduce steel framing profiles and modular houses to their product offerings. I compiled a comprehensive catalog, detailing the geometric and mechanical properties of the profiles, which facilitated successful sales initiatives. Additionally, I conducted an extensive structural analysis and prepared calculation reports for a single-family modular house, effectively demonstrating compliance with wind design standards prevalent in hurricane-prone areas. This accomplishment prompted Staloframes to expand their services to include modular homes and steel framing roofs. In addition to my design responsibilities, I served as a key liaison for obtaining certifications and played an instrumental role in establishing Staloframes' presence in the Miami market. My experience at Staloframes showcases my expertise in steel framing design, project management, regulatory compliance, and highlights my ability to contribute to the growth and success of an organization.
