Art Gallery DirectorBôribrasi Galeria May 2021 - Dec 2021BôriBrasi Galeria was an art gallery in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil providing visual & audio art, public events, and holistic services to the people of Santo Antônio and Pelourinho. A black box gallery and cultural center, the inaugural exhibit "Repatriação" featured Afro-descendant artists native to NYC and Bahia. “Repatriação” displayed Marcos da Silva Costa’s painted love letter to his mother and all Donas of Pelourinho. Stephanie Hewett premiered an Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Brazilian soundscape. Arismendy Feliz, Anthony Prince Leslie, and Felli Maynard exhibited still-life and portraits that honor the Black gaze. An ofrenda (altar) dedicated to Orishas (Yoruba dieties) featured artworks by Afro-diasporic and Queer ancestors assembled in collaboration with VisualAIDS, The LGBT Community Center, and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Visitors blessed it with photos, flowers, crystals, and other offerings. They participated in guided tours, networking events, creative programming, and supported local business partners of the gallery. Repatriated connected with one another and with locals, expanding their networks and chosen family abroad. At its core, BôriBrasi Galeria was a cultural arts center by and for the community. It was made possible by donors from across the USA and Brazil, totaling $5,000.00 for anthropological research, historical field work, construction materials, maintenance fees, installations costs, collaborator stipends, rent and utilities.

Combining both virtual components and outdoor activations throughout New York City, the sprawling exhibition includes a cyber gallery with game-like installations, outdoor performances, artist talks, live-streamed readings, and screenings. “ARCANUM” is curated by Anthonywash.Rosado, and includes work by: Brian Gonzalez, Patrick G. It refuted Eurocolonial claims of Native Caribbean subdivision and extinction. It traversed borders to inspire documentation and story-sharing of residents gardening rich cultures of low-income communities, ensuring our stories are no longer exploited and capitalized. This exhibit was installed for display in Loisaida INC, Arts East NY, and El Museo De Los Sures.Anthony Rosado’s work focuses on historical, indigenous Caribbean definitions of identity and the influence of their values, spirituality, horticulture, and language today, as well as our relation to these definitions right here in Loisaida. His exhibition aims to refute euro-colonial claims that the Ní’Tiñao were a divided peoples who went extinct. Via art and storytelling, We Exist, he tells us. -

Promoted to the Hiring Team Manager for incoming CAP Faculty. Editor in Chief of Ifetayo Newsletter, which produces quarterly issues of articles written by and for the Ifetayo community. Ballet Dance instructor and Ifetayo Youth Ensemble teacher.

This event was for us; by us. Vendors kept 100% of their profit. 80% of $10-15 suggested donations at the door went directly to the artists. 20% supported Starr Bar.
