Amen.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I serve as a Senior Director of State Government Affairs at Code.org and the current President of the National Computer Science Advocacy Coalition. Code.org and its leadership have been great partners and better friends for many years in my prior role as State Director of Computer Science Education for Arkansas within the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). I am blessed to continue advancing computer science education, just now on a national level. In my prior position, I was acknowledged by Code.org and other national entities as the first dedicated computer science supervisor in either a state’s Department of Education or Governor’s Office and served in this position from July 2015 until joining the Code.org team in July 2022. Michele Owen honored me by allowing me to become her husband in 2000, and we have two sons. Michele is a Library Media Specialist within the Bryant School District. William, our eldest is attending Texas A&M where he is a Midshipman in the Navy ROTC program, an engineering major, a member of the Fighting Aggie Band, and in the the Corp of Cadets. Our youngest, Harper, is a student in Bryant Public Schools, the NCO of Personnel for the Air Force JROTC program, has been a member of the archery team for years, and is active in the Bryant bands.I am a first-generation college student, who earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a double minor in Education and Computer Science from Henderson State University (HSU) in Arkadelphia, Arkansas in 2005 and a Master of Science in Education in Educational Leadership from HSU in 2007. I went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Bowen School of Law in 2013 and gained admission to the Arkansas Bar in 2014.More recently I have taken up piloting as a hobby, and earned my Private Pilot's Certificate (license) in March of 2023 and instrument rating in January of 2024.
