Travelex is the world’s leading specialist provider of foreign exchange. My role is to work with senior stakeholders within our global territories on defining requirements for our e-commerce solution. This includes creating solutions to satisfy the business requirements, writing user stories and working with 2 off-shore Agile Scrum teams to develop and deploy the changes into production. I am also involved in on-boarding external partners onto our platform. We employ an Agile methodology which involves Backlog Grooming, Story Point Estimation, Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups and Retrospectives.

TUI Travel is one of the world’s leading travel companies operating in over 180 countries. As a Senior Business Analyst I worked within an Agile (Scrum) development team that provided a centralised function for the group to capture and store data in a content hub database (Mongo DB) and provided the data and functions to the different markets. Also worked on a Community Platform to collect and present User Generated Content and integrate the functions within the markets’ websites. I was also part of a team that developed a mobile app that captured video at destination which are then available to view on the company websites.

Antenna Web develop and implement internet solutions for businesses from small brochure websites to large complex e-commerce and database driven websites. We also offer internet marketing solutions including search engine optimisation, e-mail marketing and linking strategies.

Compass Software Ltd specialised in providing software solutions to Retail clients (such as Marks & Spencer, Tesco, House of Fraser, Nike-Europe), predominantly Merchandise Planning systems. These were 32-bit client/server applications (developed in VisualBasic6) supported by relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle), running over Windows platforms. I was responsible for the development and implementation of all the solutions provided by Compass Software. The teams (nearly 40 employees) who worked for me covered all the main project lifecycle areas such as Project Management, Software Design, Database Design, Development, Client Specific Tailoring, QA, Implementation and Support. I also became involved in pre-sales presentations having to describe technical solutions to non-technical people.

The first three years of my time at Sears Retail were concentrated on the implementation of a new merchandising system called Retail Express (AS400 platform). As a team leader I was responsible for Management Information Systems and Purchase Order Management. After the successful implementation of Retail Express I started work on a high profile project called Project 2000. The aim of this project was to devolve responsibility to the out of town stores and to provide better access of information to all users. An Oracle 7 database was used as a data warehouse linked to PCs across a Novell network. During this project I was promoted to Project Leader. Part of the project was to provide planning systems (achieved through Commander Planning) and an EIS system (achieved through HOLOS). I left the company not long after these systems were successfully implemented.
