Anthony Bayarong studied B.S Architecture at the Far Eastern University; he skipped college after 3 years and went back to Olongapo City in 1996. Undecided what to do he tagged along with his brother who was then a provincial correspondent for The Manila Times. He was the errand boy.In 1997 he was given a chance to write for a community paper which gave him his first assignment, a story about the 300MW coal plant in Zambales, it went out to be the headline of the paper the following day.Another break came during the 1998 election, he was tapped by a National daily to write for them and in the same year he was also tapped by another national daily to cover the siege of Subic, he then never looked back and wrote for several national dailies up to now.In 2003 he became the editor and co founder of Zambales-Bataan Time for 2 years before he left the paper for ethical reasons.Anthony Bayarong wrote for several newspapers among these are; Malaya, The Philippine Post, Philippines News and Features and The Manila Times. He also contributes to regional papers.In 1998 he ventured in photojournalism, picked up his first digital camera and fell in love with photography. He had no formal education in photography or journalism but passion has kept him in game.In 2009 he published subictimes.com, the first local and only news website in the province of Bataan, Zambales, Olongapo and Subic area (former naval base of the Americans) to date. He has now shifted his interest in the new digital news gathering and service.In May 2011 he was granted a scholarship for a diploma in multimedia journalism by the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University.Aside from being a journalist, Anthony is also working for Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority as a community relations officer. He has also been recently hired as a sub editor for one of the leading newspaper in Qatar, The Peninsula Qatar.
