Small, nonprofit, acute care, hospital with over 1,000 employees. Responsible for managing all aspects of financial management to include budget formulation, forecasting and execution, accounting functions, government travel and travel card use, third-party collections, and all aspects of data quality using an evidence-based approach to improve data matching for physician worksite and workload reporting.Responsible for the strategic planning, direction and overall accountability of a $62M operations budget for an inpatient U.S. Military Treatment Facility (hospital) and two ambulatory clinics, providing both inpatient and outpatient (primary and specialty) services for over 35,000 beneficiaries in the Beaufort, SC area.Accomplishments:• Led finance team in a highly successful Joint Commission/Medical Inspector General survey with zero findings in each of 11 inspected/surveyed areas.• Reduced fiscal year 2015 operating expenses by 14.5%, an annualized savings of nine million dollars while maintaining financial support of existing services and financing the expansion of key service lines (Urgent Care and Surgical Services).• Successful in maintaining financial support of a high-quality healthcare organization during continuing resolution (the absence of a federal defense budget) during a time in the federal government frequently regarded as the most turbulent fiscal years in recent history.• As a member of the Board of Directors, provided financial guidance in support of the hospital’s patient safety mission to the CEO, COO, fellow board members and department heads/division members.• Worked in close coordination with Facilities Management, Materials Management and Human Resources; ensuring legal execution of facility projects, medical contracts, purchase card buys according to federal appropriations law, as well as provider staffing exchanges with other military treatment facilities in our region in support of patient safety goals.
