Director, Print
•Supervise day-to-day operations and activities of nonfiction print and e-book publishing program of 265 titles (360 volumes) annually (approximately $20 million annual revenue) in 3 imprints: ABC-CLIO, Greenwood Press, Praeger Publishers•Directed and continue to oversee the integration and reorganization of Editorial Department into 11 publishing teams to encourage "ownership" and "entrepreneurship" from team members•Execute long-range business vision provided by company president and executive team; provide feedback on progress, sales, staffing, and resource needs•Supervise creation, annual review, and execution of 5-year strategic publishing plans in 13 subject fields•Direct editorial staff of 5 managers, 10 acquisition editors, and 2 editorial assistants located across the country•Research publishing industry trends and the needs of libraries and scholars to guide development of new books and product types and methods of content delivery•Chair editorial board to review and approve all projects for contract•Approve/sign all publishing contracts; advise on subsidiary rights negotiations, reprints, and new editions•Guide staff in creative reuse of existing content in new products, including print to electronic and electronic (especially databases) to print•Coach editorial managers in researching and negotiating partnerships with museums, nonprofits, associations, and other organizations for mutual benefit•Coordinate "enduring questions" essay (journal) feature of 11 academic database products•Develop and monitor annual Editorial Department budget to ensure positive cash flow and end-of-year profitability•Coordinate transmittal of manuscripts and publication phasing with Production staff•Coordinate cover designs, catalogs, and promotions, including new media "events," with Marketing staff•Ensure staff compliance with company policies and human resources regulations•Bring all potential author or legal conflicts to a win-win resolution
