I am proficient in handling hi-performance aircraft and air displays, and held valid ratings in Aerodrome and Approach Radar control with additional unit endorsements to provide Procedural Approach services and SRAs (surveilance radar approaches). My initial and ongoing training was conducted in accordance with ICAO and ESARR standards and I completed my OJTI course at Eurocontrol's Institute of Air Navigation Services in 2007. In addition to my day to day military ATC duties I often provided a FISO HAMSS (Helicopter Air Marshalling Site Service) in support of a local charity. This was conducted annually on behalf of the Irish Defence Forces and at the time was reported to be the largest mobilisation of civilian helicopters in Europe. Show less

As a soldier in the Irish Army I took part in a wide variety of operations that contributed to the security of the Irish State.In addition to operations within Ireland, I was deployed to South Lebanon as a UN peacekeeper with UNIFIL (1997-98), and further deployed to support NATO peace enforcement operations in Bosnia & Herzegovina with SFOR (1999-2000).
