Older plant, with challenges installing cable tray in congested piperacks, finding creative ways to install new loads on heavily loaded MCCs, and finding space for VFDs in custom enclosures in a crowded substation building.Led electrical portion of a project in the Valero Houston refinery, utilizing resources in the BMcD Houston, Kansas City, and Mumbai offices simultaneously. Managed and checked the design of cable tray, lighting, grounding, and electrical area classification.Transmission & Distribution group:Spent 2 months in the Detroit Edison office, helping execute underground cable replacement projects. The client had never had contracted construction for pulling and splicing cable on their system. Helped coordinate construction resources, manage permitting issues, and facilitate relationships between contracted resources and client resources.Spent 3 months in Detroit Edison office training client co-op and new grad engineers. Taught basics of substation design, protection & control philosophy, and project execution. Led 4 co-op students to execute the substation portion of ~30 cable replacements over the course of the assignment.Remote end projects involving new high voltage transmission line protection/control and breaker control panels. Integration of existing utility infrastructure with these new panels to provide client with increased reliability.

During the summer of 2014, I was an electrical engineering intern for the Burns & McDonnell Transmission and Distribution group dedicated to American Electric Power project work. I created cable schedules, designed and specified materials for cable tray installation, and helped create wiring diagrams for a transmission line panel to establish fiber-optic communication with a remote substation.

I was an electrical engineering intern for the American Electric Power field operations group. I maintained substation control house drawings, assisted in troubleshooting control house electrical issues, and assisted in the cleaning and testing of electromechanical relays.

As an electrical engineering intern, I led two breaker replacement projects: one for a 138kV transmission breaker and another for two 13.8kV distribution-class breakers. For both projects, I helped American Electric Power upgrade from electromechanical relays to microprocessor relays. I created drawings, ordered materials, shadowed a Protection and Control engineer when doing relay settings, and coordinated with field technicians to complete the projects. For the 138kV breaker, I shadowed the Protection and Control Technicians during installation.
