As Head of the Board Effectiveness Practice at Korn Ferry, Anthony advises public and private company boards, including large nonprofits, mutual funds, and family influenced businesses, on a range of confidential matters. Anthony was an honoree in the 2023 NACD Directorship 100™, recognizing leading corporate directors and corporate governance experts who impact boardroom practices and performance.Anthony spent six years co-leading the Global Board Effectiveness Practice at Russell Reynolds Associates, most recently as Managing Director. There, he advised boards on a range of confidential matters from CEO and Board Chair succession to board composition, from dealing with activist investors to pre-IPO governance. Anthony was Co-Chair of The Conference Board ESG Center Human Capital Oversight & Disclosure Working Group in 2019-20. Anthony co-authored a chapter on board leadership in The Handbook of Board Governance 2nd Edition (Wiley) in 2020 and a chapter on board-shareholder engagement in the first edition in 2016. Anthony regularly writes for Agenda, Corporate Board Member and other publications for board directors.Anthony was previously a partner at Tapestry Networks, Inc. for over a decade where he led the corporate governance practice and was founder and Co-Chair of the Shareholder-Director Exchange (SDX). For five years from 2009-2014, Anthony wrote the Leading View column for the Financial Times.Before joining Tapestry, Anthony was CEO of Omnicom Group subsidiary Smythe Dorward Lambert, Inc (SDL), a boutique consultancy specializing in change management, culture change, and employee communication. Under his leadership, SDL developed its business in Europe and the United States, ultimately merging with global public relations agency Porter Novelli.Anthony is a former board member and former Governance Committee Chair of Boston Scores – a not-for-profit youth development program which strengthens urban public school communities through soccer, literacy, and community service. Anthony was educated at New College, Oxford University, where he gained a Master of Arts in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics and was elected president of the Oxford Union, the world’s oldest and most prestigious debating society.
