Education: PhD (Medical Epidemiology, Karolinska Institutet - Sweden)MAppSc (Biopharmaceuticals, University of New South Wales - Australia)BSc (Biotechnology, Murdoch University - Australia)Work Experience:Since September 2022, I have been employed as a Senior Data Scientist within the Data Analytics division for Pioneer Credit Ltd. My main tasks are preparing historical data for use in constructing propensity models, however I am also involved in maintenance and/or use of other models for discounting and pricing, as well as ad hoc data queries.From 2015-2022, I was employed as a Specialist in Internal Risk Modelling within the Internal Risk division at the Icelandic National Bank (Landsbankinn hf). My main tasks related to predictive model building (for Loss Given Default); including project scoping, literature review, data preparation, model development, testing, validation, and presentation / documentation of results. Prior to 2015 I held Research Fellow positions in Epidemiology & Biostatistics at the University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University. In these positions I designed projects utilising retrospective/observational linked ‘big data’ from various health registry databases to investigate different health outcomes. I was involved in all aspects of these projects; including conception and design (often as part of a team), application for data (including ethics), data cleaning and analysis, and finally communication of findings, including publication in international peer-reviewed journals. Additionally I worked in the Western Australian Government for almost 3 years, managing the Monitoring, Evaluation and Research branch of the Western Australian Government's Drug and Alcohol Office.Prior to my PhD, I worked for roughly a decade in human molecular genetics - in hospitals, universities and a biopharmaceutical company (deCODE Genetics Inc).Skills:Financial and health outcome modelling, Epidemiological study design and analysis (particularly longitudinal observational studies / Real World Evidence analyses). I am proficient in the use of SAS (statistical software) coding, including the use of SQL and macros within SAS, for data preparation and statistical analysis. I have generated numerous successful ethics and data access applications, grant proposals and peer-reviewed journal articles. I have also generated a vast array of government reports, ministerial briefings and media statements. Previous laboratory skills included various DNA/RNA/protein analyses and embryology/andrology techniques.
