Since 2002, have been designing and distributing bicycle accessory products for their own global brand creation, Knog.Work included project managing their second generation high-powered LED bike light range. Product dev responsibilities encompassed: ideation, proposals, mood boards, concept sketching, styling, product specs, BOM/ costing/ ROI, design dev, foam and clay models, in-house & outsourced prototyping, sourcing and liaising with Chinese factories/ supplies, presentations and design reviews.Was involved in: the introduction of performance-based targets, competitor benchmarking for niche product differentiation and market positioning, creating templates and processes for new product proposals as well as writing new proposals, set-based concept dev and product builds, user trials, in-house concept prototype testing, OTS test rigs, release for tooling procedures (eg CAD, documentation), and researching new product opportunities in ‘as yet established’ product categories for Knog.Also, consulting work as business required for approximately 20% of time.

MFD is a new Melbourne-based industrial design consultancy dealing in design of consumer, electronic, packaging and FMCG products. My work here involved design for air travel, public hygiene, car driving aides and automotive aftermarket parts. Involvement in the product development process has ranged from ideation/ conceptualisation/ presentations to detailed design (Pro/Engineer), research and sourcing and client meetings. I have also been instrumental in the introduction and implementation of new concept assessment processes based on customer interest analysis.

Invetech (which stands for ‘investing in technology’) is one of Australia’s biggest design and engineering consultancies, employing some 200 staff and specialising in complex electro-mechanical instruments for the bio-medical industry. Working in the mechanical CAD group, my role was as 1 of 3 Pro/Engineer designers in a project team of ten. This was for The Coca-Cola Company, Atlanta, and working with three other development partners through PTC/WindChill (incl. DEKA Research, USA & Pininfarina, Italy). The majority of my responsibility was for parts and subassemblies within the user-interface regions of the product. These included injection moulded plastics (some highly visual, some interlocking and some casings and housings for electronics and fluidics), machined and sheetmetal parts.
