My career in technology began at 13 as an amateur radio operator, sparking a passion for computers and radio technology. This interest led me to public safety, where I became a certified firefighter and EMT, gaining exposure to emergency telecommunications. A key turning point came when I set up an amateur radio station at the parish emergency operations center. This led to a role with the Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness, where I helped establish and expand the parish’s IT infrastructure.I founded the Parish Information Technology Office, designing the first office-wide network for Homeland Security, Emergency Preparedness, and 9-1-1 communications. Over time, I expanded the network across parish offices and implemented critical systems such as servers, VoIP, and email, improving interdepartmental communication and reducing costs. One of my most impactful projects was developing an Enterprise Web EOC system to manage emergency operations. I also secured an FAA permit to build a radio tower and obtained an 800 MHz radio license, integrating West Baton Rouge Parish into the largest P25 radio system in the U.S., enhancing communication for first responders.I’ve worked on several grant-funded projects, including securing a $450,000 Assistance to Firefighters Grant to provide radios for parish firefighters and planning a multi-site radio system for law enforcement. Additionally, I was instrumental in planning the Central Communications Center, securing federal funding, and advocating for a tax to support its operations. As Assistant Director of Homeland Security, Emergency Preparedness, and 9-1-1, I managed emergency communications, GIS systems, and public information strategies. Currently, as part of the leadership team at the Tangipahoa Parish 911 Communications District, I focus on enhancing emergency response services and public safety.Outside of work, I am an active member of a firefighters-only motorcycle club, supporting charitable causes like the Baton Rouge General Burn Center’s Burn Camp, Shriners Hospital, and CASA.
