It Engineer
Responsibilities/Achievements: Supporting users over the LAN including various remote sites throughout Kwazulu-Natal and Africa using Windows 2000/2003 Terminal Services(RDP), the daily administration of the company LAN, Windows 2000/2003 server support, Exchange Server 2003/Active Directory, Microsoft ISA 2004 support,managing and deploying SUS updates to clients, patch management, desktop installations and PC roll outs, managing Kronos Timekeeper, DHCP, disaster recovery, windows XP desktop support, managing backups, RAS, DNS and attending to any problems that a user may be experiencing, provide 2nd and 3rd line support for all server & network problems, ensure efficient and effective utilization of network applications and equipment, establish and control I.T systems access and security, supervise work undertaken by hardware, software and network suppliers and contractors to ensure quality meets Bytes and the customer's standards, asset management, work with network management service to review network management & packeteer statistics on a monthly basis. Identify & rectify problems as required, identify areas for service improvement from all the above. Ensure a process of continuous improvement is carried out, technical evaluation - assess any new changes to the infrastructure and their potential impact. Assist with proof of concept testing when required.
