This role required Anthony to work with external and internal engineering resources to develop a state-of-the-art asthma exacerbation detection system that was based on randomized carbon nanotube technology. Anthony worked with regulatory agencies and support teams with Covidien to ensure that the product was designed for all Federal Pre-Market Approval Requirements. In the process of creating this solution Anthony gained the attention of the current CEO of Covidien because of his innovation approaches and the streamlining of the product development cycle time by 17 months. Anthony’s business unit was chartered to deliver over $1 Billion in revenue within 5 years and enable new revenue streams in services and supplies. This role was a comprehensive product-marketing role, with complete end-to-end product responsibility and global marketing, sales, and distribution. -

This role also included responsibility for the software development infrastructure, help desk, and aligning the strategic needs of the business with IT. The goal each year was to do more IT work with less budget and Anthony was able to navigate these difficult challenges through creative approaches to getting work done with better technology solutions and partnerships. Prior to the IT focused role Anthony reported to the CTO of Motorola Commercial Government Industrial Solution Sector, which was led by the seventh most patented person on planet earth! Anthony learned the special art, and science, of directed innovation that yields maximum business results. He learned that focusing on consumer needs to solve specific use cases that are important to them is the key to using innovation to create value. Anthony was responsible for the entire R&D Research budget for projects, approximately 180 Million Dollars, advanced marketing insights, and project coordination. This job led to a Motorola wide role as the owner for the Motorola Stage Gate Process for Product Development – known as M-Gates and used by 94,000 employees. M-Gates was the key process that allowed the Commercial Government Industrial Solution Sector to win the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award; Anthony received the highest recognition from Motorola for his leadership efforts in winning this prestigious award.
