Lucarelli’s career in libraries goes back to 1990 when he became a page (aide) for the Fountaindale Public Library District in Bolingbrook, IL. After graduating high school in 1992, he moved up to Information Services Assistant.He received his LTA in 1996 from College of DuPage. Later that year, he took the position of Access Services Assistant at Benedictine University (IL). He completed his studies for his BA in Communication Arts in 1999 while at Benedictine. He received his MLIS in 2009 from Dominican University.He has successfully run and passed two library building referendum campaigns, the first for the Gail Borden Public Library District in Elgin, IL – as Public Information Officer – in 2000 and the second for the Fountaindale Public Library District – as Public Relations Specialist – in 2008. After leaving Gail Borden, Lucarelli was a Senior Accounts Supervisor at Mack Communications, a boutique public relations, government relations and crisis communications firm. He returned to Fountaindale in 2007 where he has served in a variety of positions, most recently as Systems Librarian since November 2015.In 2014 he served as a Mentor to the ILEADUSA Traveling Tablet Team and also serves on the Illinois Library Association’s Best Practices Committee. In 2015 he was an Instructor for ILEADUSA, teaching workshops on WordPress, open source software and hardware, Arduino, littleBits and continuing process improvement. He also holds memberships in ALA, PLA and LITA.Lucarelli enjoys exploring new technologies and looking to incorporate them into library services or public programming. He feels that learning new technology is best through hands-on engagement. He currently resides in Bolingbrook, IL with his wife, son and a very large labradoodle who thinks he is a person.
