The Student Experience and Administration Services (SEAS) Directorate is led by the Dean of Students and Registrar and is currently part of the Chief Operating Officer portfolio. The Directorate oversees the provision of services across the whole student lifecycle from inquiry to graduation. It includes student engagement, employability, equity, wellbeing, student advocacy, learning and academic skills, as well as student administration services, and contact centers. The Directorate works collaboratively across the University and has close links with external stakeholders including employers, industry groups and the community.

Lead and implement innovative admissions application and selection management for the University of Melbourne.

Facilitating the transition to the new Melbourne Operating Model by enabling business improvement and innovation within Academic Services.Achievements:- Contributing to the core student activities in January and February 2015 to ensure there was no significant loss of service for new and continuing students.- Imminent delivery of the student online identity verification service that will allow students to verify their identifies online and in turn allow the University to mail out student ID cards thus removing queues and freeing staff for more value adding tasks.

In December 2013 I was seconded to the Business Improvement Program (BIP) to provide data and undertake analysis for the Student Experience Workstream to support the modelling being undertaken by Strategy& and the University BIP team. From January 2014 I have been the Program Manager for the STLS work group identifying opportunities for system-enabled innovation in process design and service delivery and working on the academic business systems roadmap including preparation of the 2015 Capital Plan bid for the Planning and Budget Conference.Achievements:- In response to a request from the business to assist in reducing the work required to support the 2014 mid-year commencing cohort, the CaptureME service which allowed the commencing cohort to upload their own photographs for their student identity cards was rolled out in three weeks to be available for Academic Advice Day. The response from both students and staff has been overwhelmingly positive.- Facilitated, along with Neil Robinson and Evan Kritikakos, the Minding the Gap: evaluating student expectations and success workshop at the Business Improvement in Universities Conference on 24 September 2014 at which I focused on the challenges, rewards and lessons learnt around benefit profiling and realisation.

The delivery of a program of improvement projects and provide support for a range of cross-functional initiatives. Supporting targeted analysis and contribution to the development and rating of options and the design and recommendation of business process reforms, and provide incisive and fact-based advice to senior management.

The Manager, Graduate Science Student Centre works closely with the Associate Dean (Graduate Programs), and is responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality service to students, University staff and members of the public. The Manager leads and manages the team of professional staff involved in graduate programs activities.The Manager provides high level advice to senior members of the Faculty of Science and others on graduate program matters including expert policy advice. Specific key portfolios include selection and enrolment, transition and orientation programs, course planning and student progress, enrichment and student experience programs and scholarship management. The Manager also plays a key representative role for the Faculty including being responsive to further development of the Graduate School under the University’s student service delivery model.

The DSD Reference Group Taskforce was established in March 2015 to deliver a collaborative and systematised Australian and New Zealand solution to manage digital student academic data both locally and globally. The Taskforce has been funded by contributions from each of the 39 Australian universities. Universities New Zealand has now committed, in principle, to active involvement.Whilst the Taskforce was originally envisaged as the secondment of a core team of three supported by Higher Ed Services (HES), it has operated as a core of one (myself), supported by HES, with very active participation from the Reference Group members and the engagement of experts under my direction for specific packages of work, as required.Achievements:- Signing of the Groningen Declaration by Universities Australia in May 2015.For further information refer to the Taskforce website - http://www.hes.edu.au/services-initiatives/digital-student-data-taskforce/
