I believe the fundamental difference for those who do it well is understanding clearly what delights and what dissatisfies the consumer along with having a maniacal desire to understanding the 'why'?Every piece of consumer insight is valuable, but it won't just land on your seat. You need to go get it. Prototype early, prototype often, and don't be afraid to fail. Progress over perfection is key to rapid development which is why I prototype success criteria (KPIs), test protocols, real-world consumer feedback, in-home usage scenarios, and manufacturing environments.I believe that miscommunication and indecision are the key reasons that product development is unsuccessful. I believe the best inspiration comes from clearly articulating the vision and surrounding myself with the most thoughtful, talented, and passionate makers in the world.I measure success by the satisfaction of my consumers - high star ratings, low return rates, and creating value in their lives has always delivered a healthy, growing business.
