Instructor - Department Of Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental, And Multinational OperationsUnited States Army Sergeants Major Academy Aug 2019 - Nov 2021As an instructor in the Department of Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental, and Multinational Operations (DJIIMO), I provided instruction for senior enlisted members of our Armed Forces and our Allies at the graduate level to become agile and adaptive leaders who are critical and creative thinkers, able to produce viable options to solve operational and strategic problems.DJIIMO is an integral part of the SMC foundation for Joint Professional Military Education (JPME). This theme of instruction addresses significant objectives of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The DJIIMO emphasizes using critical thinking, analysis, and problem solving to explore the application of Joint doctrine. By applying these principles to a complex problem set, students develop a perspective of leadership at the operational and strategic level of the Department of Defense.I facilitated learning in the classroom using Discussion Teaching -the foundation of the Harvard Business School's renowned case method of instruction-- a powerful tool for developing skills as well as conveying knowledge. In the give and take of discussion, students go beyond abstract understanding to the active application of important principles to include the value of their career and personal experiences. They are confronted with the same kind of ambiguous, ill-structured problems they will face in their professional lives.
