I am a director-level corporate counsel and registered patent attorney with expertise in intellectual property (IP) litigation (Hatch-Waxman and biotech cases), patent portfolio management, commercial litigation, licensing disputes, regulatory counseling, and risk management for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Known as a creative problem solver, I thrive on leveraging my blend of technical knowledge, cross-functional leadership, crisis management, business acumen, and negotiation skills to build relationships, mitigate risk, and reduce legal exposure.I began my legal career at Kaye Scholer LLP, an Am Law 100 firm, which exposed me to high-stakes pharmaceutical patent litigation matters and enabled me to represent clients such as Pfizer, Aventis, and Chiron in highly cited patent litigation cases. Subsequently, I joined Paul Hastings LLP as a senior associate, where I supervised multiple litigation teams, mentored and managed junior attorneys, and developed the case strategy for patent and other IP litigation matters. Following a 7-year tenure at the firm, I was recruited to Acorda Therapeutics, a publicly traded biotechnology company, as its first-ever Director of Litigation.Since 2013, I have served as Acorda’s chief litigator for all of their adversarial proceedings. I also advise the legal department on IP and regulatory matters. I am focused on developing cost-effective litigation strategies and budgets while meeting business goals that advance Acorda in the marketplace. Some examples include defending the company in ANDA litigation for its flagship product, and managing the first inter partes review (“IPR”) by a hedge fund against a pharmaceutical and biotechnology company. I am known for working collaboratively with others, leading teams to develop “outside the box” arguments, and maintaining a team atmosphere that is motivated and collegial.
