I expanded my knowledge of the Kiewit OGC Engineering company and industry standards by reading ASME codes for project deliverables and the design of pipe systems. I expanded my communication and networking skills by collaborating with different senior-level engineers and interns to complete my various projects. I developed new skills such as reading piping isometrics, performing stress analysis using 3D model software, and evaluating design documents. The interns were given a mock project which helped my collaboration with other disciplines to define divisions of responsibility for multi-discipline tasks

I designed a benchtop apparatus for the quasi-static uniaxial confined compression of powders, which will be used for further research on powder compression behavior. This required interacting with lab members through weekly meetings/presentations and daily discussions over alterations to design. I also integrated commercial components including pneumatic actuators, load cells, and LVDT sensors into design process. To design the apparatus, I utilized Solidworks to create components to the apparatus, machinist drawings with GD&T tolerancing, and assemblies to verify subpart interfaces. Once this was complete, I machined stainless steel and aluminum parts in Turbomachinery Laboratory Machine Shop provided at Texas A&M University.

I was first trained to cook certain foods in the kitchen as well as clean the dishes and the floor of the establishment. As weeks went by, I became more comfortable in this, so I was trained to work in the drive-thru position. I would talk to the customer to get their order, create the order, and then gather the money afterward. After becoming comfortable in both of these positions, I would go to work roughly 3 times a day for 7 hours a day and work whichever position was needed.
