As a Circulation Assistant, Anthony showed that he was willing to go above and beyond the call of duty on numerous occasions. When he was hired, there were limited shifts available to work. Anthony picked up available shifts to make up the difference. There have been multiple occasions where he has covered gaps in the schedule to ensure the supervisors were able to attend to their responsibilities. He is always willing to work a closing shift until midnight; even if he had an 8:30am morning class the next day. Anthony always has a positive attitude about his work and his academics. Only a few months into working at the library, during the summer before his sophomore year, Anthony was promoted to the position of Student Supervisor. He took on the responsibility of assisting with training, creating student worker schedules, hearing student worker concerns and presenting them to the staff. Anytime supervisor hours were open, he was equipped to cover those shifts. The summer before his senior year, Anthony was awarded the Angie Buscareno Memorial Award which highlights a Circulation Assistant who has shown much dedication to the library and embodies the university mission. When voting for the recipient, Anthony was the unanimous vote. As an alum and a legacy of Dominican University, I see Anthony embody Caritas et Veritas every day. He constantly helped his peers with homework and projects. Many times, his coworkers asked him for guidance about patron interactions, policy review, procedure review, and course recommendations. Anthony became a mentor for many of the employees in the library due to his endless knowledge and compassionate demeanor. He wants to see everyone treated fairly and justly.
