I primarily do architecture, design, and engineering for complex systems and processes. I aim to build interesting things that are useful to a broad audience. The aspect of my work I enjoy the most is taking complex, often vaguely-defined ideas, breaking them down into simple parts, and understanding the relationship between them. In the past, I've worked in telecom, finance, software, and research. It's exciting to see these come together more and more. My current projects are largely focused on interesting intersections there.Most of my interesting past work boils down to translation: I translate between business needs and technical requirements, abstract ideas into concrete products, between design principles and economic benefits, and so on. Bridging communication gaps to help smart people get things done is the most fulfilling part of my last few jobs.In the past few years, I've gotten to apply my technical skills to areas with a more human significance, such as building systems for social justice non-profits.
