I wanted to write this so that I could give an update on my rather unconventional journey since graduating college and what type of impact I would like to make in the future.My graduation from college was quite unique given that it took place during COVID. However, I have always prided myself on my ability to adapt to any situation. Fortuitously, my avid interest in investing led me to recognize and capture a big monetary opportunity in the commodities space during a time of great macro uncertainty, which led to fear and panic. I had already accepted an offer to work at an investment bank during the summer heading into my senior year of college and so I worked there for a little over a year before I decided to pivot and solely cultivate my passion for investing. As for the reasons behind this, I have always subscribed to the philosophy of regret minimization; taking risks and following my passions have truly been the fuel for my personal curiosity and life decisions.My journey from avidly researching companies in college to taking multiple calculated risks with investing my own personal money has taught me a lot about the powers of self-belief and visualization. I have faced multiple challenges and made costly mistakes but I think what separates those that capitalize on uncertainty from those who don’t, is having a blend of humility and unwavering self-belief.I haven’t fully decided what route I would like to take next, but I have always envisioned my passion for investing leading to some entrepreneurial pursuit. In the back of my head, I know that the only way to find that path is to try a bunch of new things so that is the framework I plan to follow with respect to my own future pursuits.To any future employer/business partner, I believe that my greatest strengths are being an avid learner and resilient responder to challenges. I’ve certainly built this muscle from overcoming obstacles in those areas that I am deeply passionate about. However, I also think it is important to highlight the other, equally important side of resilience, which is persevering through something that you don’t like and in times when little progress seems to be made.
