Since early 2010, I have worked in different positions as a treatment counselor in Excelsior Youth Center. This is a treatment center for adolescent females, which houses clients with a wide array of behavioral disorders. My experience thus far includes working with clients under the diagnosis of severe and mild depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenics, conduct disorder, reactive-attachment disorder, and others but not as active as the preceding disorders. I also work in the treatment center working with clients whose criminal acts require them in treatment as well, familiarizing myself with this distinct population as well.As a treatment counselor, my duties include a dynamic range of requirements and abilities since each client reacts differently to treatment and because of the different age gaps. My experiences include facilitating therapeutic groups including life skills, bullying, wellness, cultural diversity, and peer resolution. I also perform direct intervention with clients under duress or when experiencing a psychological crisis. I am proficient in deescalating clients in an erratic state, as well as instructing different levels of coping methodologies to clients when staff is not able to quickly assist them during such times.
