In the process of obtaining my bachleors degree in logistics and Supply Chain Management My grasp of inventory knowledge started my freshman year of college working a United Parcel Service at 18 years old. For the past 20 years, Ive worked with some good managers in inventory shipping and receiving and at the same time, I to have learned a lot about the inventory world and at the end of the day, logistics comes down to numbers & technology.     The OR Supply chain/procurement specialist Is responsible for control the OR as for as getting the supplies quickly as possible so where the OR scrub techs are able to pull the cases ( surgeries ) for the doctors to have the proper equipment to perform the surgery on the patient. Distributing all supplies within the OR CORE ROOM, OR NON STERILLE, THE SPINE ROOM AND OTRTHO ROOM. I'm also along with the OR coordinator are responsible for communicating with the OR manager and with the scrubs tech about when supplies are on order, backordered or when they are expected to come in especially overnight items that delivered from FedEx express. at times communicate with the reps about certain items that the warehouse are out of ,or that the item is on backorder from the vendor with no ETA areas according to the defined schedule. · Receive in and sign off for expedited deliveries,(FEDEX, UPS, WAREHOUSE CURRIER )accurately key receiving into the SMART system, and deliver to the OR or other areas for coordinators to have if they order the products also. all of the OR and other supplies through the hospital orders are placed in SMART or in OPTIFLEX where it tells you the item of the product, what is the min and max par & how much is on order and if its a warehouse item or a non stock item that the item is coming from the vendor depending on how much lead time it takes or the PO to get cut, it ranges from 3 times 5 day pending with FedEx or UPS shipment also wait time for the product to arrive at the hospital. THE NATIONAL RECALL SERVICE DATABASE where I look up any recalls that are out there to see if we do or do not have the recall products in the hospital. From there, I will be able to determine if the product or products are in need to be pulled and send back to the vendor or back to the warehouse based on what type of product its and do i need to pull it from the OR core supply room or ant other department in the OR as a whole.
