My childcare work experience is rooted in education, Youth development and preschool/daycare facility operations. From the office to the floor: I learned customer support, empathy, interpersonal communications, program development, office management, employee management and so much more. The complex personalities of both children, teens and adults can be a chasm of chaos, at a young age I managed to represent myself well, and provide guidance when necessary. The business of managing people can be difficult, and you have to love what you do.From budgeting, logistics to the security and safety of lives, my responsibilities are heavy: and still are. I remember years ago in the early 2000’s, we had about 40 kids at the beach ranging from age 5-12. All the kids were great swimmers and we never had any issues, yet on this day: things were different. A few of the older kids were out body boarding and I noticed one struggling a bit, as I looked again to check if he was playing I quickly noticed he was in trouble. Without question, without looking for the lifeguard I ran in the water. Swimming to the kid and bringing him back to shore, to my surprise I learned the lifeguard was running at an angle about the same time I ran. I beat him to it. He met me on the beach to check the kid, and all was well. I care deeply about everything I do and everyone I do it with. There are countless stories lessons and wisdom you can learn from managing a bunch of children and youth.I’m blessed to own and operate a preschool/daycare with my wife for the last 7 years and would not be where I am in my marketing, tech and business career without my 10 plus years of experience working in childcare.
