Directly responsible to the Chief Engineer for supervision and training of two Noncommissioned Officers and eight enlisted engineering personnel. Responsible for the safe and economical operation and maintenance up to limited depot level, of the vessel's machinery to include: main propulsion, power generation and distribution, hydraulics, petroleum products storage and transfer, potable water production, testing and storage, sewage treatment, damage control and other systems. Coordinates and controls support maintenance activities. Oversees the PMCS program. Maintains the engineering log book and associated historical files. Serves as the senior engineer watch officer while underway. Additional duties include, AOAP, TMDE Coordinator, Hazardous Material Officer and Marine Standards Examiner.

Served as Training Management NCO for System Integration Branch and provided direction for developing and implementing Operator and Field Level maintenance training programs to support new or emerging systems in the Watercraft community. Junior Marine Engineer of a Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 2000, a 174 foot 575 ton cargo vessel and a 60 foot 105 ton Small Tug. Directly responsible to the Chief Engineer for the safe and efficient operation of all systems on board the vessel. Duties included: Inspecting, scheduling and supervising maintenance and repairs of all mechanical and electrical systems and associated machinery onboard the vessel to include engines, generators, hydraulic, electrical, fresh water, sewage, air and HVAC systems.
