• Provide assistive technology services and consulting in the Central/South Texas Region.• Areas of assistive technology - home accommodation, computer access, environmental controls/home automation, wheelchair, seating and mobility, ergonomics, jobsite accommodation, mobile devices as assistive technology, AAC device access and mounting, custom applications.• Volunteer at the Emory Bellard ALS Clinic at Scott and White Hospital. Provide assistive technology advice to patients with ALS• Assist with ALS AAC (Augmentative/Assistive Communication) clinic and evaluation.

Work with interdisciplinary team to provide in-patient level of rehab care to patients in the home and community. Specifically addressing assistive technology procurement, training and implementation.

• Served as a resource to ALS patients and their families with regard to all areas of assistive technology.• Provided direct assistive technology services via home visits to ALS patients in The ALS Association’s catchment area. Provide home modification consulting to families, a new program for this chapter.• Managed the Chapter’s equipment loan programs.• Tracked inventory, managed quality of inventory, coordinated donations, monitored budgets, maintained good working relationship with vendors, and chose appropriate equipment for patients.• Created procedures and methods for tracking equipment. Created a follow up program to keep in touch with families that currently have equipment.• Spearheaded and implemented a second durable medical equipment loan closet location.• Over four years, decreased cost per item transaction by 35% and increased number of patients served by the program by 100%.• Created informational material on various assistive technologies distributed to patients and posted on the Chapter’s website.• Performed informational in-services to various facilities and organizations to educate the public on ALS in general and assistive technology for ALS specifically.• Maintained relationships with referral resources and constantly sourced new, reputable vendors for our patients.• Supervised Assistive Technology Interns to develop novel AT applications/products through the NYU-ITP Program.

• Visited the homes and businesses of individuals with disabilities throughout the state of Mississippi to recommend assistive technology devices and/or services to allow clients to live more independently or to obtain/retain employment.• AT services provided: Home Modification, Seating and Mobility, Vehicle Modification, Environmental Controls, Jobsite Modification/Ergonomics, Computer Access for Visual Impairments and Physical Impairments, Low Tech Visual Aids, and Aids for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.• Performed commercial ADA compliance evaluations at various facilities in the state.• Provided in-house training to statewide counseling staff.• Developed forms used by the statewide AT staff.• Created and developed policy and procedures used by the statewide AT staff, and trained new Assistive Technology Division staff.
