About Anton Coppens
After an introductory period of several months as a mason-apprentice at various construction sites, I was as assistant project manager responsible for coordinating the finishing phase of an apartment building. During this period, I realised that I had more feeling for the preparation phase of projects and that there were still many opportunities here to work with new software and methods.So I took my first steps into the world of the virtual building model where everything was thoroughly engineered in advance and made ready for execution. At the same time, I was given the opportunity to delve deeper into the software and discover all the possibilities for developing a more efficient workflow together with the team.After this I got the chance to develop my knowledge further by setting up a BIM department to ensure efficiency and greater customer satisfaction. I was fortunate to be able to work together with the management who only saw advantages in this way of working. During this period, I was able to learn more about BIM and the cooperation with various parties became more and more the norm.At a certain moment BIM was booming in Belgium and this gave me the opportunity to do what I love most... Using the experience I had gained to make a difference. Working together with a team to find solutions for problems before they occur. Working for and with different people, learning from them as they learn from me. It is an endless story of learning and improving. Of new methods and insights.Each new assignment is started with enthusiasm and drive because it always brings new challenges.Meeting all those interesting people on my way, gave me the chance to widen my horizon and together with some of those people we are working on developing BIM in Romania.
