I am the head choir director at Mayfield High School (5A) in Las Cruces, New Mexico proudly having six years of choral and general music experience in the K-12 classroom. I currently conduct three choir ensembles and two levels of Piano Technique classes. Choral ensembles feature a beginning-level choir, an advanced mixed ensemble, and an advanced treble choir. My curriculum focuses on musical literacy and an exposure to a wide variety of musical cultures and styles. Aside from musical pedagogy, I am also versed in the administrative aspects of being a choir director. I solely manage fundraisers, social media presence, library and uniforms, all-state auditions, solo and ensemble entries, etc. I am currently serving as the Vice-President for Choir for the Southwest District of the New Mexico Music Educators’ Association. Active in disrict meetings, arranging solo and ensemble festival and our annual Music Performance Assessments, representation of the district to the State organization, and advocacy for choral music education.Presenter at past NMMEA conferences: Middle School Mythbusters (2021) and Resources for Online Engagement (2020)Past leadership experience includes being a department head for Elective/Visual and Performing Arts. I hold a Bachelor's in Music Education with an Emphasis on Choral K-12 Education from New Mexico State University and a Master’s in Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University.
