I was also entrusted with conducting weekly executive SteerCo meetings, sharing progress updates and resolving issues. The project spanned over six months, during which I utilized Agile methodologies and MS-Project for modeling.The primary stakeholders involved were key executives from Commercial, Technology Architecture, Product Architecture, Engineering, Billing, Customer Support, Legal and Risk, Customer Experience, Customer Care, and Vendor Management. The deliverables included Business Requirement Specifications, Solution Design Specifications, Test Cases, Program Work Flow plans, Risk Logs, and Progress Reports.As a Program/Project Management consultant, I ensured the alignment of all Technology Enabler projects with the Technology Enabler Portfolio roadmap. In this significant chapter of my career, I undertook an intricate and multidisciplinary role with the National Department of Arts and Culture. As the Program Manager, I had the responsibility to orchestrate the logistical relocation of the entire DAC infrastructure to a new 22-level building. This mammoth task was not just about shifting spaces; it was about improving operations and optimizing functional interactions.From blueprinting the space plan to align with the business model, to detailing the relocation budget with phased procurement priorities, every aspect required strategic thinking. I engaged in the architecture of the building's domestic facilities such as lighting, water, power, IT infrastructure, telephone systems, and security, all within the framework of the new building's process flow optimisation.One of the notable aspects was the incorporation of modern technology. Researching and incorporating building automation systems, access control systems, and IT infrastructure formed an integral part of the relocation plan. Beyond the relocation, my role involved aiding the Language Service unit with a Translation Management system's scoping and implementation, developed by the University of Western Cape.Advising the Heritage unit on the technical aspects of the South African Policy on Digitisation and contributing to the scoping of an arts portal for government were additional responsibilities. The multiplicity of tasks required collaboration with service providers from various disciplines, thereby necessitating proficient programme management skills.This journey has provided me with a valuable insight into the influence of national and internal divisional politics on project execution. Amid this complexity, my role involved presenting budgets, operational plans, and program strategies to executive and top management in the government. At the National Department of Arts and Culture, I successfully undertook the sizable challenge of migrating the IT infrastructure to the Kingsley Centre. The project, completed in six months, involved the logistical movement of server room, network infrastructure, and user desktop computers. In order to guarantee a seamless network transition for both servers and users, I implemented a laser-based network to interconnect old and new buildings.In my role, I also directed a 36-month FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) migration project as per the Government's FOSS Strategy. This involved in-depth research into best practices, scoping, and the execution of migrations from Exchange to FOSS (KOLAB), MS-Active Directory back-end, and workstations. To minimize disruption, I meticulously planned for change management.Simultaneously, I oversaw the wireless infrastructure implementation and the transition from a physical to a virtual server environment. This required my in-depth involvement in scoping architecture, analysis, budget, and the upgrade of the SAHRA (SA Heritage Resource Agency) and Museum Institution's infrastructure. I also played an advisory role on technology-related issues and project management, and presented at various forums on IT-related issues including budget, FOSS, and new technologies.In addition, my advisory role in the Mzansi’s Golden Economy (MGE) project was pivotal. I worked closely with the SMI team to ensure the successful completion and continuous improvement of the AWS project, leveraging my expertise in web-based technologies, database design, and programming.Throughout my time at SMI, I collaborated with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide support, and design system improvements. I also coordinated with internal development teams to deliver high-quality solutions and maintain customer satisfaction.One of the highlights of my role was the successful completion of the AWS project, which involved the implementation of the Automatic Weather Station System. I was involved in the Automatic Weather Station Project for the Swiss Meteorological Institute in Zürich, Switzerland. This undertaking expanded over 48 months, offering me an opportunity to drive every stage of the project, from analysis and project management to design and implementation.The main stakeholders were the forecasters at the Swiss Meteorological Institute and its Director. This audience challenged me to design a system that met their varying needs and expectations, a task I undertook with keen attention to detail and commitment to quality.In the initial stage, my work focused on understanding the current operational systems, which included legacy DEC VAX systems. This deep dive gave me the insight needed to redesign the entire Automatic Weather Station (AWS) system.My tasks included system analysis and operational mapping, which resulted in thorough user requirement specifications. These specifications ranged from data integrity concerns to operator functions, offering a comprehensive guideline for the project.Designing the system was a multilayered task that involved everything from data exchange and client-server architecture to data processing, user interfaces, scalability, and redundancy.Given that the client was not fully familiar with the internal operations of the system, there was a significant amount of redesigning during the development stage. This iterative process not only improved the final outcome but also strengthened my problem-solving and adaptability skills.In addition to my primary role, I handled network administration tasks, including DNS, email server, and user administration. Further, I also contributed to the development of a visual representation system for weather data. This diverse range of tasks not only broadened my technical acumen but also honed my ability to communicate complex data in a clear and accessible manner.

These systems were central to the production of flat metal products, and it was my responsibility to ensure they functioned optimally, reliably and efficiently.A significant part of my job involved PLC interfacing. I worked on both input and output functions, ensuring the seamless exchange of information and commands between our systems and the PLCs.A highlight of my work was managing the intricate code that controlled the coiling of metal products. This required a fine balance between precision, timing, and understanding of the physical processes involved.I was actively involved in creating new features and processes to augment our existing systems. This was done on DEC VAX infrastructure using the ADA programming language, demanding a high level of technical competence and creativity.I also undertook system administration and network administration tasks, further broadening my technical expertise and understanding of the complex infrastructural needs of a major industrial company.My role involved regular coordination with team members, where I contributed to code development, optimization through debugging, and strategizing for efficient process flow.A standout project from this period was developing an interface with a digital electronic LCD banner, displaying coil information.
