Research Masters on protective coatings for lithium-metal anodes, undertaken at Swansea University through the Materials and Manufacturing Academy (M2A). OXIS Energy Ltd and SPTS as industrial partners.My research investigates various metallic (inorganic) and polymer (organic) coatings for lithium anodes. These coated lithium anodes are tested using coin cells. The ultimate aim is to extend the cycle life of rechargeable Li-S batteries which use lithium anodes. Swansea University Race Engineering (SURE):A student version of Formula 1, completely self-run by engineering students. Each year, Swansea University funds the team with £20,000 to build a brand new racecar. A the end of the year, we take the finished car to competition at Silverstone (competing against 100 other university teams, both UK and international).In 2018-2019 I was the Electrical Area leader on the team, being responsible for the whole electrical system of the car (ECU, connectors, sensors, fuses & relays, wiring harness, and all electrical components e.g. alternator regulator, battery, electronic gear shifter etc.) and managed a team of 5 electrical engineering students. My main achievement was creating a 3D model of the whole electrical wiring system in EPLAN (electrical design CAD software) for the first time. This was then integrated into the existing 3D Solidworks model of the rest of the car (which had always been missing the electrical components and wiring harness)

It is largest (2,200 MW capacity) and most efficient (60% energy conversion) Gas Power Plant in Europe.For the duration of my Year in Industry, I worked under the Rotating Plant Equipment department which is primarily responsible for the five Gas Turbines at the Power Station. My main responsibility was to diagnose problems with Gas Turbines through the use of company software (DEPP, PI ProcessBook) to review historical data and also by physically going onsite to investigate problems. My secondary responsibility was to develop excel models for predictive maintenance of equipment by calculating break-even points for replacements of key components.
