About Antonella Ceddia, M.A., Ll.B

I am a senior lawyer, litigator and public policy professional. With over 25 years of experience at the provincial and municipal levels and in the private sector, I have specialized in litigation, issues management, and providing creative solutions to difficult issues.I currently advise the City of Toronto, Toronto Police Services Board and Chief of Police. I have expertise in human rights law and policy and represent clients in both court and tribunals. Eager to share information, I enjoy public speaking and have had extensive experience as a university lecturer and conference speaker. I developed and taught Canada's first full credit university course on the intersection of human rights, equity and urban planning. I lecture at the graduate and undergraduate levels about human rights law and human rights-based leadership. Before joining City Legal, I was a litigator at McCarthy Tetrault LLP. I completed my Articles of Law at the Court of Appeal for Ontario, where I clerked for Justices Abella, Moldaver, Feldman, and Austin. I have held senior professional roles at the Ontario Cabinet Office, the Office of the Mayor of Toronto (Barbara Hall), Ryerson University Discrimination & Harassment Prevention Office, and the Ontario Human Rights Commission.I have an LL.B, a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts, and also hold certificates in Advanced Alternative Dispute Resolution and in Not-for-Profit Governance.I believe in giving back to the profession. I speak and teach at several legal conferences/programs each year. I have served as Chair of the Practice Advisory Committee to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Executive of the OBA Constitutional, Human Rights and Civil Liberties Section, and the Executive of the Women's Law Association of Ontario.
