Child Advocates of Silicon Valley trains and supports Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) to serve the needs of children in the foster care system by providing a powerful, independent voice for the child. These dedicated community volunteers spend time with a child and become a trusted friend, mentor, and constant adult presence. They work with the foster parents, teachers, social workers, counselors, and others to get a complete picture of the child’s life and needs. And they make regular reports and attend hearings in dependency court to advise the judge on the child’s best interests when key decisions are being made. The volunteer Advocates stays with their case until their child has a safe, loving home. Founded in 1986, Child Advocates of Silicon Valley works in partnership with the Santa Clara County Juvenile Dependency Court, one of only a few recognized model courts in the United States. The nonprofit organization is a member of the National CASA Association.

Camp Whispering Oaks, located in the beautiful mountains of Julian, CA, is a unique rustic camp that features arts and crafts, a sport field, basketball court, challenge course, and astronomy programming. Campers choose from programs focusing on science and space, outdoor skills, sports, theater and the arts. Campers and staff sleep in fully enclosed indoor cabins with electricity and paved, lighted pathways winding through native Manzanita, Oak and Pine. The Business Manager is maintains supplies, oversees on site drop off /pick up and communicates with Council about buses; communicates professionalism with parents; coordinates with kitchen regarding dietary needs and pack outs; assists with e-camp activities, supports the camp director in all facets of the camp program.

Demonstrates exceptional customer service and hospitality while utilizing invaluable interpersonal communication skills. Earned “Partner of the Month” for November 2010. Duties include making and serving hand-crafted coffee beverages in a timely manner, cleaning and maintaining supplies, tools, equipment and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations, sales promotion of featured Starbucks products, and accurate cash handling. Skills developed for both lobby and drive-thru service.

Interns around 30 hours a week completing daily baking involving cakes, breads, individual desserts, and pastries, including completing customer and store orders for decorating pastries and retail cakes.

Set-up, served, and cleaned-up the food service area for the Live Aboard program; adhering to both health and US Naval codes for maintaining all areas of the ship in my jurisdiction. Directed volunteers of all ages to assist with duties. Rose to take a leadership role in training and overseeing of the position. Spearheaded much needed changes in areas such as food storage, organization, and departmental consistency. Additionally took charge of inventory.

Worked with a team to set up and serve catered events both on and off premises ranging from appetizers to full service wedding banquets of up to seven tables per server. Also completed a semester long internship in the Event’s Office, handling the events booking log, billing, and assisted during the developmental stages of a new local-delivery catering program.

Promoted from Cashier to Dog Trainer after one year. As a certified Dog Trainer I held roughly ten classes a week instructing people on how to get effective training results from their dogs. Classes included not only instruction but also hands on practice. Required group management and effective communication to different learning types. Developed excellent guest skills in public friendly company.

Started as secondary help, packaging, loading, and stocking bread products at Farmer’s Markets. Promoted to sole operator at the company’s San Jose Farmer’s Market stand, responsible not only for the loading, transport, and selling but also the finances, inventory, and clean up.

Lifeguard duties included not only monitoring the aquatic environment but also the adjoining park. Handled office duties and mailings, answered phones, and dealt with members in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
