* Responsible for building and leading a team of 20+ engineering professionals working on the account deposit wagering platform, twinspires.com (and white-label partners) and the news and E-commerce platform, brisnet.com.* Oversee the architecture and lead full stack development teams that build multi-homed, highly scalable, highly available, and modular multi-tenant web and mobile applications.* Incubate emerging technologies, development frameworks, and tools to improve the product and software development life cycle.* Identify platform bottlenecks and needed performance improvements. Guide the efforts of engineering teams scaling the platform.* Review security vulnerability scans and work with teams to reduce risks. apply safe development practices, and prioritize patches.* Work with product managers and stakeholders to design and plan new features, make enhancements to the existing platform, and define the product roadmap.* Assume a leadership role within the Architecture Council to define and implement the architectural runway in support of the product roadmap.* Help Scrum teams understand the business requirements, assess the technical effort, and plan the work.* Work with the Product Development and the Product Management teams to identify process improvements within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).* Hire and mentor technical staff to achieve high performance, job satisfaction, and retention. * Was hired by the company as their first web developer. Although the company was not new, we were small, privately owned, and very much had a startup mentality.* With their trust, I grew the team to 13 developers and eventually split my team between software development, network administration, systems administration (Digital Unix and then Linux), and team management.* Responsible for architecture and development of an E-commerce platform selling digital information using both a shopping cart and month-to-month subscription plans. In the early-days of the Internet, this was originally coded in Perl, later converted to C for processing efficiency, and eventually to a traditional LAMP stack.* In 2000, leveraging Open Source technologies we built one of the first online horse racing wagering platforms which was eventually acquired by Churchill Downs, Inc. I coded a custom-built transactional processing and queueing system to process wagers, the real-time data feed consumption, and parts of the front end. I oversaw the architecture and the development effort. I also configured servers, databases, and a multi-homed network with firewalls, load balancers, and security appliances.
