PhD in Horticulture and crop science with experience in plant disease, marker development, QTL mapping, population genetics, genomics, teaching and bioinformatics. As a Research assistant, I studied the different components of virus resistance in exotic wild potato germplasm and the identification and characterization of papaya viruses. As a PhD Graduate student, I worked on the development of conserved orthologous gene-based markers for QTL mapping and gene discovery in tree populations, synteny and population genetic studies across the Rosaceae family with focus in sweet cherry for application in marker assisted selection. As a Research Associate I conducted studies in population diversity, QTL discovery through genome wide association analysis, genomic selection and disease resistance in wheat as well as mentoring graduate level students. I am deeply inspired by the adoption of cutting edge technologies in agriculture. In my current role I am constantly assessing the potential of new approaches to increase speed and prediction ability in our breeding programs. Strong technical knowledge in statistical genomics, marker deployment, germplasm characterization and several analytical tools across multiple crops.Specialties: Molecular marker development, genetic and association mapping, bioinformatics, Population genetics, genomic selection.
