In such cases, my role was to perform a proof of concept (POC) and incorporate those notes in the document as well, with enough clarity for non-architects to implement the integration without much feedback. In short, the Technical Specs allowed Drupal resources to flow in and out of the project without major ramp up. Other tasks included monitoring commits from Drupal resources for compliance with the Technical Specs and Drupal best practice, helping project managers identify dependencies on project plans, authoring scope matrices with estimates for new projects, participating in business development efforts and screening potential Drupal hires.
