About Antonio Fuggi

I am an all-rounded PhD student in applied geophysics at University of Leeds working on a cross-disciplinary project at the Institute of Applied Geoscience (IAG) and Institute of Geophysics and Tectonics (IGT). I have a solid background in Physics and Mathematics and a strong enthusiasm in programming to develop new methods for seismic modelling and inversion. I am currently developing a novel methodology for estimating mechanical properties of fractures/fracture zones from seismic waveforms and I am eager to apply Machine Learning techniques to geophysical problems.

    "Finite Difference modelling of rough sea surface effects"This study investigated the effect of recording depth on the expected value and variance of the reflection coefficient across a receiver array. - Developed a statistical rough sea surface modelling code according to the Pierson-Moskowitz method. - Computing 2D Finite-Difference seismograms using existing SU code, to model the sea surface ghost effect in the presence of calm and rough sea surfaces. - Developing an effective (average) reflection coefficient estimation code for synthetic seismograms. This code evaluates specular reflection coefficients by working in appropriate time-space windows free of scattering codas. Supervisor: Dr Sergio Grion
