    As one of the charter group of people selected to be employed at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC), the first new 4 year college in Georgia in over 100 years, I led the team that administered the network and the central servers fort data and voice. Specific accomplishments include: • Migrate the telephone system to IP telephony. At GGC we inherited a TDMA Avaya G3Si system from the Gwinnett University Center. By 2005, the system was expensive to operate and used obsolete technology. We deployed Asterisk, a VoIP open source system that would allow us to reduce the cost of operating a telephone system. We were able to provision and connect phone sets in the new buildings faster and cheaper. The system was installed in its own firewalled VLAN in order to increase the privacy and security of the voice traffic.• Installed the new networks for 3 buildings as well as installed the first wireless access control system using Cisco and Extreme Networks devices. • Manage the Information system infrastructure including PIX and ASA firewalls as well as security policies.• Installed the network in the new residence halls (3 buildings) and connected it to the campus network. In addition to satisfying the demands of GGC’s constant growth, my day-to-day responsibilities included:• Supervising Existing Data & Voice communications network support • Managing the Development and Implementation of information security processes and systems• Supervising the team that develops Local and Wide Area network design• Manage Cisco ASA and PIX firewalls and Cisco Catalyst switches including models Cisco Cat 6500 and 4500.• Manage Extreme Networks network equipment.

GPC, UGA, Medical College of Georgia (now Georgia Regents University) and SPSU all offered classes at the Gwinnett University Center.As Network Manager of the Gwinnett University Center in its brand new facilities opened in 2002, my responsibility was to ensure the all Cisco data network was fully functional and operational to meet the needs of the academic institutions. I managed a network composed of Cisco Catalyst 6000 switches at the core and Cisco Catalyst 4000 switches at the access layer until the decommissioning of the Center and the creation of Georgia Gwinnett College in October of 2005.
