I grew up in a suburb of New Orleans, Louisiana called Slidell. During my free time, I worked at the family company, eventually taking on positions such as Salesman and Administrative Assistant. After graduating from high school, I decided to pursue my passion for biology and medicine. I graduated from Baylor University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration of pre-medicine and a minor in French, partly funded by academic-based scholarships. In my time at Baylor, I have had opportunities to participate in multiple research labs, in which I have acquired many skills and learned numerous techniques that are indispensable for my future endeavors. In my research at Baylor, I have analyzed soil health based on soil ciliate genetic diversity as a part of the CILI-CURE program. Later, I participated in the genomic annotation of bacteriophages, using bioinformatics as part of the SEA-PHAGES lab, in furtherance of the emerging field of phage therapy, which is aimed to address the issue of antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections.After graduating from Baylor University, I went on to work in a dermatopathology laboratory. While working in this lab, I was employed as a laboratory technician and was eventually promoted to grossing technician, with some cross training in Moh’s micrographic surgery. I am currently a fourth-year medical student at William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
