About Antonio Somma
How does the musical instrument influence the performance? Does its sound take precedence over the music we create with it? In my thesis entitled "Acoustics of Musical Practice on Historical Instruments," I explored these questions by collaborating with artists capable of satisfying my curiosity through their daily practice. This experience, combined with my own musical practice since childhood, allowed me to develop an innovative scientific project where the interaction between the pianist and the instrument is revealed in a new light. However, many questions remain unanswered! My goal is to continue exploring this subject with the same humility and scientific rigor, accompanied by my passion as an artist.-Comment l'instrument de musique influe-t-il sur le jeu? Sa sonorité prend-elle le pas sur la musique que nous créons avec lui? Dans ma thèse intitulée "Acoustique de la pratique musicale sur instruments historiques", j'ai exploré ces questions en collaborant avec des artistes capables de satisfaire ma curiosité grâce à leur pratique quotidienne. Cette expérience, combinée avec ma propre pratique musicale, présente depuis mon enfance, m'a permis de développer un projet scientifique novateur où l'interaction entre le pianiste et son instrument se révèle sous un nouveau jour. Cependant, de nombreuses interrogations subsistent ! These two approaches have the effect of highlighting contradictions in the assertions made by various practitioners of musical disciplines.Is it then possible to imagine scientific approaches that could reflect aspects of musical complexity? Can musical acoustics informed by performance influence certain beliefs about practise and playing style in relation to instrument specificities in musical repertoires?
